Where does the word "lemongrass" come from?

"Lemongrass" comes from the Persian limun "lemon" (though the Persian word itself may perhaps derive from either Balinese limo or Malay limaw "citrus fruit"; this is unclear) and from the Old English græs "herb, plant, or grass." It is a green plant. According to wikipedia, lemongrass oil attracts honeybees because it resembles one of their pheromones. In India it is used to repel snakes.
